BNL Intern

Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Job Description: The Biological Nanostructures Lab (BNL) in the California NanoSystems Institute seeks an undergraduate student intern to help with lab cleaning and maintenance. The BNL Intern will work as part of a team ensuring the operational efficiency of a core research facility. Must be highly responsible, organized, dedicated, and have a strong attention to detail. The BNL Intern will need to be able to commit 10 hours per week to the position. Job tasks include lab cleaning and maintenance, basic training and set up of new lab users, maintaining laboratory stocks, and instrument verification. Possibility of increased responsibilities with experience.

 

Job Tasks: Daily tasks include general laboratory cleaning and maintenance, glassware washing, autoclaving labware and biohazardous waste, lab organization and stocking. Additional tasks include lab safety and basic equipment training for new BNL users, set up of new BNL user documentation, and maintaining lab stocks.

 

Desired Major: Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials, Biology, Ecology

Sophomore or Junior desired

 

Pay: $10.50 - 15/hr DOE

Expected Time: 10 hr/week
