Parking Permit Sales Clerk

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as a customer service representative for Transportation and Parking Services, Permit Sales Office. Assist campus community and visitors with identifying appropriate parking permits for their needs.

Will be accountable for : Cash, cash equivalents, permit inventory, cash balancing and demonstrate accuracy in maintaining a change fund.

Must have excellent customer service skills, communication skills and be punctual. Cashiering experience is desirable. Will be cross-trained with other units within the department to assist with large events, conferences, athletic activities, concerts, etc.

Must dress in accordance with uniform standards  and department dress codes.

Must understand University environment and climate. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

As a part of the Permit Sales/Visitor information team, sells parking permits to faculty, staff, students, vendors and campus visitors at TPS Sales Office. Enters data into departmental and/or vendor databases, as appropriate. 

Codes transaction to various revenue centers and rings credit card, cash, check and payroll deduction transactions into the sales register. Maintains accountability for cash fund. 

Reconciles revenue by identifying and resolving discrepancies. Follows UC campus internal control policies for cash handling. 

Balances daily to internal sales activity report. Prepares cashier collection sheet for deposits into multiple revenue accounts. Maintains appropriate logs(i.e., refund requests) and reports discrepancies. 

Communicates information vital to the access to parking at UCSB. Responsible for providing information via phone, e-mail and in person, regarding Transportation and Parking Services including permit eligibility and sales, enforcement, the Transportation Alternatives Programs (TAP) and special events that pertain to parking. 

Provides maps and explains parking regulations affiliated with selected permits to new employees, vendors, campus visitors, faculty, staff and visitors. Ensures that the information provided is correct and up to date.

May assist in providing coverage in the visitor information Kiosk in the event of staffing shortages.
