KCSB-FM Promotions Director

The Promotions Director coordinates station promotion opportunities such as ticket giveaways, interviews, and tabling at events. As a result, he/she corresponds regularly with local venues, promoters, artists, and others to set up these opportunities. The Promotions Director also maintains a calendar of community events. The Promotions Director works closely with the Production Coordinator to ensure PSAs are made for events the station sponsors or otherwise promotes. The Promotions Director also works with the A.S. Assistant Director for Independent Media and KCSB Advisor on the annual fund drive and other projects to raise the radio station’s visibility.

Partial List of Duties/Regular Tasks

  • Administer giveaways
  • Contact with promoters and venues
  • Work with Production Coordinator on PSAs
  • Maintain community calendar
  • Help organize KCSB’s small events for the University and SB communities
  • Lead Promotions Subcommittee
  • Coordinate volunteers for various tabling opportunities
  • Organize and appoint volunteer work for KCSB events

Suggested Qualifications:

  • Should have an understanding of the radio station, its media ethics, its operations, its policies, and its bylaws.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize tasks, complete projects on time, and meet deadlines strongly recommended.

Overarching Executive Committee responsibilities:

  • Must be present in Santa Barbara for the entire school year and at least half of Winter break (depending on job position).
  • Expected to attend all KCSB events.
  • Must attend weekly Executive Committee meetings.
  • Must maintain a program on FM during employment.
  • Must lead and conduct a volunteer subcommittee for your department.
  • Job goes from October 2017-June 2018.
