Student Network Assistant

Position Description / Qualifications:

The Student Network Assistant assists the UCSB Network Operations Center as follows:

•       Installation and maintenance of wired and wireless network equipment.

•       Installation and maintenance of Uninterruptible Power Supplies.

•       Performs routine network diagnostics and remediation.

•       Performs cable installations, terminations, and remediation.

•       As necessary, assist staff with routine office and other miscellaneous tasks.

 

Requirements:

•       Excellent written and communication skills.

•       Self-motivated with good time management skills.

•       Ability to take directions and work well independently or as part of a team.

•       Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and network diagnostic tools.

•       Able to lift up to 50lbs.

 

Desired Skills:

Understanding of network related concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
