Research lab assistant
Job Description
The O’Malley lab is looking for a work/study student to fulfill the basic needs of a bio-oriented Chemical Engineering lab, including washing dishes and maintaining general lab cleanliness. The student is expected to work ~10 hours per week, split over 3-4 shifts/week. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
· Discarding spent microbial media and washing glassware (~60%)
· Putting away clean glassware, preparing consumables for laboratory use (~30%)
· Other miscellaneous tasks, as directed by lab point-of-contact (~10%)
Expectations
· The student will work in a biological laboratory and as such must be willing to undergo basic laboratory safety training and to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
· The student must be committed to working ~10 hours/week, split over 3-4 shifts/week, preferably between 9am-17pm – please note that otherwise the scheduling is very flexible.
· The student must communicate with point-of-contact in lab to prioritize tasks.
