The position of Orientation staff member is a paid internship in which you will develop and use skills that employers are looking for:

  • Self-confidence
  • University outreach
Orientation is looking for students with a variety of interests, points of view, and backgrounds who wish to be a member of a cohesive unit with the best interests of the new students, the University, and Orientation Programs in mind.
  • To apply, you must:
1) be an undergraduate at UCSB (you may be a senior graduating in June),
2) be in good academic standing (not currently on Academic Probation), and
3) have good academic performance (a better than average GPA is preferred and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 is required).
  • Employment is part-time in Spring (about 8-15 hrs/wk) and full-time in Summer (40 hrs/wk).
  • Summer school attendance during Session A is not possible due to the full time nature of the job, but may be allowed for Session B but on a very limited basis and with prior approval.
  • Housing is not provided as part of the job
  • The pay is $12.00 per hour during spring quarter and $12.50 per hour during the summer orientation sessions. Also, meals are provided during work hours in the summer (approximately 6 meals per week).
