Catering Server

Special Events Catering is a small but high-end catering operation located here on the USCB campus. We have an excellent reputation for both service and food. We hire students to serve at our catering events throughout the year. We schedule work shifts around classes and no food service experience is necessary.

 What is necessary is a positive, outgoing attitude and a willingness to work hard and have fun doing it!

 Catering is physical and usually pretty fast-paced. We are looking for students who learn quickly and will feel confident taking a pro-active role at our events. Understanding when a “sense of urgency” is needed is essential. Our student staff is expected to maintain a professional appearance, as we are often serving at high-profile events with many VIPs in attendance. We like to have fun and there is a real “team” atmosphere here.

 We pay minimum wage, with raises given based on merit and longevity in the job. There are no tips. But there is delicious food!

 Hours vary greatly since in catering we have no set schedule for events. Each week is different. A student’s availability and when we have events will determine income. Sometimes a student is not in class when we have our events and they can work a lot of hours, and the next week they are not able to work at all. It changes all the time. This is important to understand when considering the potential for earning money. It fluctuates. For most students who want some extra money, this is ideal.
