Videographer, Food Security Program

Wages: $14/hr

Hours: 12-15 hours/week

Start Date: mid to late January 2018

Description

The UCSB Sustainability Program and the UCSB Food Security Taskforce seek a student who can create short films to highlight existing basic needs and food security resources and programs at UCSB and in the local community. This student will build on the body of work created last year by student intern, Brendan Byrne, and highlighted on this You Tube Channel. We are looking for a student who is skilled in all aspects of short film production including story development, scheduling shoots, filming, interviewing, collecting B-roll, and editing. The student selected will also need to use existing resources on the campus or their own equipment for filming and editing.

Duties

  • Work with campus food security committees to identify priorities for filming;
  • Utilize your skills in storytelling to develop cohesive short videos;
  • Schedule filming shoots with campus and local partners;
  • Develop questions for interviews;
  • Interview people in the videos;
  • Film the interviews;
  • Collect B-roll;
  • Edit the videos into formats appropriate for social media; and
  • Close caption videos for You Tube.

Minimum requirements

  • Have access to your own camera, sound equipment, and editing software (or comfortable using campus resources);
  • Experience with developing short videos from start to finish (examples will be requested);
  • Professional in written and oral communication; and
  • Organized and detail oriented.

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of how food security affects UCSB students
