KCSB-FM Business Coordinator

The KCSB Business Coordinator provides support to A.S.'s Assistant Director for Independent Media, the KCSB Advisor, and General Manager in all fundraising activity, which includes assisting in the year-round preparations leading up to and following the annual KCSB-FM fund drive. With the Assistant Director for Independent Media, the Business Coordinator forms and meets regularly with a fund-drive subcommittee, helps develop the plan for outreach to local businesses, schedules meetings, and trains members in solicitation and outreach. Other tasks include scheduling and conducting pitch/phone bank trainings and tracking attendance; ensuring that our phone bank is staffed at all times during the fund drive; soliciting gifts from local businesses; entering data; and maintaining inventory databases; tracking and processing pledges.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Independent Media, tracks past business donors and updates database with new donors; prepares fund drive office materials; tracks and prepares deposits of donations; prepares reports for KCSB stakeholders that detail all funds, gifts, and sources; prepares ongoing assessments of all fundraising, and acknowledgement to all funders; updates manual for the fund drive; prepares thank-you gifts to be mailed; updates database to indicate status of pledges.

The Business Coordinator chairs weekly “Swag Committee” meetings that entails identifying, designing, and producing KCSB branded promotional items (stickers, t-shirts, hats, pens, etc.) and maintains swag stock as needed. Also assists with general office-supply needs.

Suggested Qualifications:

Should have an understanding of the radio station, our media ethics, its operations, its policies, and its bylaws. Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize tasks, complete projects on time, and meet deadlines strongly recommended.

Overarching Executive Committee responsibilities:

  • Must be present in Santa Barbara for at least half of Summer and half of Winter break (depending on the job position).
  • Expected to attend all KCSB events.
  • Must attend weekly Executive Committee meetings.
  • Must maintain a program on FM during employment.
  • Must lead and conduct a volunteer subcommittee for your department.
