KCSB-FM Music Librarian

The KCSB Music Librarian is in charge of maintaining and improving systems for organizing, cataloging, and digitizing KCSB’s music. This includes inputting the entire physical collection of CDs and vinyl into databases that people can easily access and navigate for locating physical releases and also digital playback.

The Librarian will work closely with both Music Directors. A crucial part of this job involves recruiting and training volunteers to assist with library maintenance and reorganization projects.

Partial List of Duties/Regular Tasks
  • Schedule and faithfully keep office hours.
  • Maintenance of KCSB's music library
  • Co-lead KCSB's Music Department Subcommittee(s)
  • Develop strategies with Music Directors and others to keep a usable and sustainable collection of physical and digital media

Suggested Qualifications:

Should have an understanding of the radio station, our media ethics, its operations, its policies, and its bylaws. Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize tasks, complete projects on time, and meet deadlines strongly recommended.

Overarching Executive Committee responsibilities:

  • Must be present in Santa Barbara for at least half of Summer and half of Winter break (depending on the job position).
  • Expected to attend all KCSB events.
  • Must attend weekly Executive Committee meetings.
  • Must maintain a program on FM during employment.
  • Must lead and conduct a volunteer subcommittee for your department.
  • Job goes until June 2019
