Financial Aid Peer Advisor
Customer Service
Advises students, parents, and the general public regarding the financial aid application, awarding, and aid disbursement process. This requires a broad range and specific knowledge of the administration of federal, state, and campus-based financial aid programs and the policies and procedures of other campus departments (especially Billing, Registrar, Housing, Admissions, and the Graduate Division). Resolves problems and answers questions of moderate to complex difficulties. Informs students of the specific reason(s) why they may be ineligible for aid, why their file may be incomplete, and why aid has not credited to their billing account. Advises students of their rights and responsibilities and the mechanisms of appealing various financial aid decisions. Students are assisted via front desk, phones and through email communications.
Workshops/ Presentations
Conducts financial aid workshops and presentations for student groups, campus organizations and
perspective students and parents. May be asked to represent the Office of Financial
Aid & Scholarships on various panels or workshops.
Administrative and Office duties
Attends mandatory weekly peer training meetings. May work with financial aid Advisors on assigned program work such as EAP, Scholarships or Athletics. Assists with document processing, filing, imaging, and shredding in the Document Records Area. Participates in various office projects.
Must be available to work in the summer months.
