Blum Network Graduate Student Representative

ARE YOU A STUDENT LEADER?

Do you want to lead your campus in addressing poverty and sustainable development by linking students UC-wide?

The Opportunity

The UCSB Blum Center for Global Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development is looking to recruit a graduate student to join a team of students from Blum Centers across all 10 campuses (the Blum Network) to organize UC-wide initiatives, as part of the Student Action Council for the Eradication of Poverty and Inequality (SACEPI). The graduate representative will also work closely with a UCSB undergraduate student to organize these activities. 

Why Apply?

  • Provide student feedback and recommendations to the Blum Network, in a leadership role
  • Connect with other UC students and develop creative ways to address poverty and inequality, including writing piece(s) for online Blum platforms
  • Help the Blum Network align with other system-wide initiatives addressing global poverty and inequality, including those of the Office of the President
  • Connect with other Blum student leaders on a monthly basis (required), and in person at least once a year

How to Apply?

Students from all majors and disciplines, who are enrolled in graduate studies, in good standing at UCSB in 2017-2018, and are able to serve throughout the academic year, are eligible to apply.  

Send a resume and cover letter (no longer than one page) by Tuesday, September 12th, 2017, including the following:

  • Any relevant work or volunteer experience;
  • Your interests in these issues and the position; and
  • Some thoughts on how you would motivate students to get involved in addressing poverty and inequality, and tune into Blum Center activities UC-wide.
