AS Program Board Production Assistant

Event Assistants work with Program Board Coordinators in the production of ASPB events including concerts, movies, lectures and special events. Event Assistants working in production provide manual assistance in all aspects of sound and light set-up and additional event set-up duties as assigned. These Assistants typically work as part of a regular crew or as assistants to professional production crew.  
This position requires good communication and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to lift and move heavy objects. Event Assistants must be able to work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and must be even-tempered and able to remain calm under sometimes stressful conditions.

Production responsibilities:
Install, operate, and maintain sound recording and sound reinforcement equipment. Perform related equipment operation for public performances.
Install, operate and maintain theatrical lighting equipment.
 
Load and unload trucks or other common carriers. Assist in installation and operation of various equipment. 
Perform manual duties in the receiving, storing, and installation of equipment and apparatus for public performances including moving heavy items, drums, crates, or other containers. 
Protect equipment, vehicles and other property from vandalism, theft, or abuse by unauthorized personnel.
Set-up security stanchions, barricades, and other security/crowd management equipment, as necessary.
Direct crowds in emergency evacuation and assist event staff and building staff in the event of emergency.
Other duties as assigned by Production Coordinator, Asst Production Coordinators, Asst. Director for Student Programs or Program Advisor.
